Investigator comments:
The report is a little lacking in detail, such as colour of the light, direction of travel and approximated altitude (low, medium, high). Checking through historical data, the International Space Station was passing over the area at the time, and was visible between 21:30:41 and 21:33:32 (HH:MM:SS); a total duration of 2 minutes and 51 seconds.
Given this information and that it was stated to be clear that night, we can’t rule out the ISS entirely, but if the account of the light having stopped before shooting upwards is accurate, then other avenues will need exploring.
I will now email the witness for more detail on what they’ve seen to help us rule other elements out. Until such times, the case will be closed.
If anyone else throughout the country noticed this, please get in touch.
